The Work I Do

Jacquelyn Aldrich RN, BSN, IBCLC

I am a woman of nearly 50 who was born and raised in Westerly, RI. I grew up with and married my high school sweetheart, whom I have deeply loved since the age of 16 . I birthed 4 uniquely beautiful men, spending a decade of my life pregnant and breastfeeding. Often I have asked my mother for the details of my birth story, as well as what it meant to her. Birth is SACRED.

My love of healing, nurturing, and birthing was a persistent calling, motivating my journey to begin with nursing school at URI, where I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).  Cultivating a beautiful career in a small community hospital for 18 years granted me great personal growth.  The POWER of birth has always captivated me. The Westerly Hospital was my first home that enriched my understanding of pregnancy and birth, making deep CONNECTIONS. I was fortunate to have numerous mentors that inspired me daily…some of them nurses, doctors, midwives, doulas and parents who birthed. I am an EDUCATOR, an ADVOCATE, a WITNESS to countless births, and a LEADER of parents inspiring them to seek their power in birth and breastfeeding outcomes. I am a MOTHER to many. Parenthood is SACRED.

I have 15 years experience implementing and leading breastfeeding/new mom’s groups as an International Board Certified lactation Consultant (IBCLC), an ENTREPRENEUR, a nurse in a pediatric office for several years and continue to work as a licensed IBCLC at South County Hospital. It has been a great honor being present for the births of many local children that began with classes teaching anxious parents; following their progress from their vulnerable beginnings to their more confident days that followed. Connections are made through our milk. Human milk is SACRED.

GOING PRIVATE is my way to continue the SACRED unity of BIRTH, MOTHERING, and MILK with the parents in my community sharing a uniquely intimate birth and breastfeeding experience. I will continue to bring forth knowledge of human growth, the birth process, birth planning, learning your body’s physiology, movements, breathing and skillfully observe you as you feed your babies. I am a SUPPORTER of my COMMUNITY. Community is SACRED.
